The nuclear powered Enterprise is the first aircraft carrier of its kind and is one of the largest ships ever built. On 25.11.1961 this gigantic aircraft carrier was put into service. Eight water-cooled reactors generate a total output of 300,000 hp, with which the ship reaches an average speed of 35 knots. The displacement is 75,700 tons and the flight deck is 76.8 meters wide. On average, 414 officers and 4,260 crew members are on board.
